WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today Mark Amodei issued the following statement announcing support for Harriet Hageman, Liz Cheney’s opponent in Wyoming, and condemning Cheney’s continued January 6 witch hunt:
“I’m happy to be joining over 100 of my House Republican colleagues in co-hosting a fundraising reception on March 30 to support Harriet Hageman, Liz Cheney’s challenger in Wyoming. Over a year ago, when I was one of the first Republican members of Congress to vote to remove Cheney from her position in House Republican leadership, I said that “she showed no indication of circumspection” and continued by saying “it just seemed like it was all about her.” The initial vote to oust Cheney was a secret ballot measure I strongly supported along with 60 of my other colleagues. I believed that she needed to apologize right then and there, at that moment. She did not. Instead, to this day, Cheney has made it her sole mission and purpose to press forward with her January 6 witch hunt, condemning American citizens based on a purely politically-motivated and selfishly-driven agenda with no respect for our judicial system or laws.
“There is no place for Liz Cheney in Congress, and the people of Wyoming will decide that for themselves this August. I’m glad to be joined together with the House GOP Team in trying to support this change in membership from the great state of Wyoming.”
